Yorubas Set the Pace, As Ametokun Takes Off In Five Yoruba States
The Yoruba nation is already on the book of history for establishing regional security outfit, operation Amotekun to tackle insecurity in the states in Yoruba region.
The long awaiting takeoff of the regional security outfit was clear on Tuesday as Amotekun Bill was passed by the Lagos State House of Assembly, Ogun, Oyo, Osun and Ondo states.
With the passage of the bill, the governors in the region are expected to sign it into law for Operation Amotekun to commence on full force with legal backing in their red state.
Recall that following proscription of Operation Amotekun by the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Muhammed Tanko, the South-West governors had a meeting with the Vice President, Professor Yemi Osibanjo and the Chief Justice of Nigeria where they agreed that the regional security outfit should have legal backing, which led to the passage of the bill and its subsequent adoption in the South-West states.
