Tension Heightens In Kogi As Gov Yahaya Bello Prepares Another SIEC List To Assembly
There is palpable fear in Kogi State as the state government prepares to send a mother list of the members of the state Independent Electoral Commission (SIEC) to the State Assembly, after the first one was turned down by the state lawmakers.
The confirmation of the eight man nominees of the State Independent Electoral Commission who is expected to conduct the local government election was earlier turned down by the state's lawmakers after discovering that the members who are supposed to be nonpartisan are all card carrying APC members.
More surprising on the earlier list sent to the state Assembly for confirmation by the governor had the former Lokoja Administrator, Shiru Lawal, a known APC member as the chairman of the eight man State Independent Electoral Commission.
As the government prepares to send another list for confirmation, there is already fear in the state by members of the opposition parties for the governor not to choose another APC members that will do the bidding of the governor as the local government election approaches.
