Kogi PDP Guber Ticket: Supreme Court Reserves Judgment, Announces Date For Ruling
The Surpeme Court on Tuesday
reserved judgment on the controversy surrounding the authentic winner of September 3, People's Democratic Party, PDP, governorship primaries for November 16, 2019 governorship election in Kogi State.
At the sitting of Supreme Court on Tuesday, the apex court reserved the judgment on the matter and disclosed that judgment will be delivered next Tuesday.
The apex court will determine who was the authentic winner of the September 3, PDP governorship primaries in Kogi State between Musa Wada and Abubakar Ibrahim.
The issue before the apex court is however, controversial. The Supreme will determine if Musa Wada who was the candidate of PDP in the November 16 governorship election in Kogi State was the authentic winner and candidate of the party.
The apex court will also look at the prayers and evidences of the first runner up of the governorship primaries, Abubalar Ibrahim, and determine if he was the authentic winner and the candidate of the party.
If the apex court ruled in favour of Abubakar Ibrahim, it will also determine if he will inherit the 189,704 votes polled by Musa Wada on the November 16 governorship election. The apex will as well determine if Ibrahim is eligible to carry on the legal fight against the winner of the election, Alhaji Yahaya Bello of APC who polled 406,222 votes to emerge the winner of the election.
The Main Argument And Evidence Of Abubakar Ibrahim Ahead of Tuesday June 23 Supreme Court Judgment
Abubakar Ibrahim who was the first runner up of the governorship primaries maintained that he was the winner of the primary election despite interventions of the party's hierarchy to drop his legal battle for the interest of the party.
Ibrahim hopes to get 'justice' at the apex court, arguing that Musa Wada couldn't have won the election when 241 ballots were missing after the collation was moved to a private resident in Lokoja following the disruption of the primary election by gunmen at Confluence Stadium, Lokoja.
Abubakar Ibrahim also alleged that Musa Wada smuggled 600 ballots to the private resident where the collation took place.
However, in its ruling in February, the Lokoja High Court went Against the prayers of Abubakar Ibrahim, faulted the entire process of the primary election and declared it null avoid.
Abubakar Ibrahim's quest for 'justice' suffered set back when the Appeal court setaside the ruling of Lokoja High Court and declared Musa Wada, the winner of the governorship primary election.
The only option left for Abubakar Ibrahim to seek for 'justice' is the apex court and will be looking forward to be declared the authentic candidate of the party next week Tuesday.
Musa Wada's Argument Ahead of Supreme Court Judgment Next Week Tuesday
The winner of the governorship primaries and candidate of PDP in the Novembers 16, governorship election, Musa Wada, argued that he was the winner of the primary election.
While describing the governorship primaries as free, fair and credible, he urged the court to discard the petition of Abubakar Ibrahim and declare him the authentic winner of the primary election.
All the controversies surrounding the PDP governorship primaries will be put to arrest on Tuesday 23 June, 2020.
