Tribunal Declare Smart Adeyemi Winner Of Kogi West Senatorial Election
Kogi State National Assembly Election Petition Tribunal sitting in Abuja, has finally delivered judgment between Senator Dino Melaye and Smart Adeyemi.
In a judgment delivered on Wednesday, the election Petition Tribunal dismissed the petition of Dino Melaye and upheld the election of Senator Smart Adeyemi of PDP as the authentic winner of the November 16, Kogi West senatorial rerun election.
The three man justices of the Tribunal led by Justice Kashim Kaigama while delivering the judgment, said the Petitioner failed to prove his case beyond every reasonable doubt that the election was marred by irregularities, adding that he relied on hear say and thereby rejected all the Witnesses presented in support of the petition.
According to the Judge, the Petitioner failed to proof his petition with credible witnesses to prove his case beyond reasonable doubt.
In two hours ruling of the Tribunal, the Tribunal dismissed the petition of Dino Melaye on the ground that the evidences he presented before the court were not tenable and thereby declared Senator Smart Adeyemi as the authentic winner of the Kogi West senatorial election.
Reacting to the jdudment, Senator Dino Melaye has vowed to appeal the judgment while insisting that he was the authentic winner of the senatorial election.
Melaye, however, described the judgment as black marker judgment contratry to the wishes of the people of Kogi West.
