Gov Yahaya Bello Ordered Total Lockdown Of LG Of Controversial COVID-19 Index Case

Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello has ordered immediate total lockdown of Kabba Bunu, the local government controversial COVID-19 index case.



This was made known in a state broadcast on Monday,
saying the total lockdown will last for a period of 14days with effect from midnight of June 2nd.

According to the Governor, there will be no house to house movement within the local government during the lockdown, and movement within the street in the local government will be prohibited as well.

Governor Yahaya Bello added that the pallitiave for the local government will be distributed house to house instead of holding gathering.

The Governor also noted that contact tracing will be carried out house to house to identify people who might have made contact with the alleged Kogi COVID-1 9 index persons; the Chief Imam of Kabba and his Son within the local government area.

While the lockdown continues in the local government, the Kogi State incident management team will continue to carry out the contact tracing, and will be fully covered by mainstream media.

according to the Governor, health workers who might have come in contact with the alleged index case will proceed on self-isolation, while the security agencies in the state will ensure total compliance of the lockdown order. 

Yahaya Bello, however, advised the residents of the state to adhere to NCDC guideline, stressing that Kogi State still remains COVID-19 free.
