Heroic Mother Breastfeeds 20 Babies After Gunmen Killed 24 Women, Babies At Afghan Hospital
A heroic mother, Feroza Omar, has gained world recognition after breastfeeding 20 orphans babies following gunmen attack in Dasht-e-Barchi maternity hospital in Kabul, Afghanistan which left 24 women dead including new born babies.
Few hours after the attack, Feroza Omar rushed to Ataturk hospital where 20 babies who survived the attack had been transfered, to breastfeed the orphan babies.
The 27-year-old Feroza Omar said she thought to herself that the babies need their mother but they were killed in the attack and she decided to play the role of a mother by hugging them and breastfeeding them.
She disclosed further that when she hugged them, she didn't feel like they were someone else's babies, adding that she she felt she was breastfeeding her own child.
Feroza Omar lamented that, "the terrorists have not even spared babies of this country who just opened their eyes onto this world."
Feroza's heroic act has attracted commendations from people around the world including a popular twitter user, Nahanni Fontaine @NahanniFontaine who commended the Afghan mother for breastfeeding 20 babies after the Kabul attack.
Feroza Omar is also a victim of the terrorist attacks in Afghanistan, in 2017, she lost her
33-year-old brother and a father of two who she disclosed was killed by Taliban on the day of his birthday.
She disclosed that "I know the pain as a victim of this war in Afghanistan; I know how it feels to lose your beloved ones."
Feroza's heroic act has inspired other women in Afghanistan to join the effort to care and breastfeed the orphan babies.
