Meet Nigerian Who Bagged Combined Masters Degrees In Oxford University At The Age Of 20
Many Nigerians are doing great things outside the country and have been celebrated by their host countries on number of occasions.
One of these Nigerians who has earned the respect of the world and corrected the wrong notion foreigners have against Nigerians is Anne-Marie Osawemwenze Ore-Ofe Imafidon.
Anne-Marie Osawemwenze Ore-Ofe Imafidon hails from Edo State Nigeria but living in London with her parents and her siblings.
Anne-Marie Imafidon, as she is fondly called was born in 1990 to Nigerian Parents, Chris Imafidon and Ann Imafidon.
Imafidon who started her primary education at St Saviour Church of England Primmanry School Walthamstow, London took the world by storm after graduating as the youngest person ever to bag a qualification in Information and Technologyat Lyceum Institute of Technology in East Ham, London at the age of 11 years.
Imafidona exploits continued and won a scholarship to study mathematics at Johns Hopkins University in 2003 at the age of 13.
She then proceeded to the prestigious University of Oxfordwhere she bagged her first degree in 2007 at the age of 17.
She was re-admitted for her master's program at the University of Oxford where she broke all available records to receive a combined Masters Degree in Mathematics and Computer at the age of 20 years.
Imafidona has won several awards amongst which are; UK IT Industry and British Computer Society's Young IT Professional of the year 2013, she also won the Red Magazine's Woman to Watch' 2014.
She won Point of Light Award from UK Prime Minister, October 2014 and the Seventh Most Influential Woman in IT in 2017 amongst several others.
She is the co-founder of Stemettes; a social enterprise inspiring the next generation of females to delve into Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics. Within the four years of its existence, 15,000 girls across UK, and Ireland have attended Stemette experiences.
Her ingenuity also led her to co-found Outbox Incubator, the wold's first tech incubator for adolescent girls.
Smartness runs in the family of Imafidona, her twins siblings, who major in music hold record as the youngest students to ever pass the University of Cambridge's advanced mathematics exam. Her family has since been declared as the smartest family in Britain.
Her twins siblings, Paula and Peter are considered to be the highest young achievers in Great Britain through which they got nicknamed as “The Wonder Twins”.
In an interview with NAN in London, she said education is an important aspect of young people's lives.
She said, "I want to get the message out there to the youth that learning is such a vital element in their growth. I also want them to understand that mathematics is essentially a game of numbers", she said.
Imafidona's father, Prof Chris Imafidon is one for the respected figure in modern informatics and education.
He dedicated his life in Oxford University to raise up genius people. This is evident in his kids. He has lectured in University of Cambridge, Harvard, Oxford, Columbia and Cornell.
