Chinese Covid-19 Researcher On The Verge Of Breakthrough Murdered

 A Chinese Covid-19 researcher, Dr. Bing Liu, 37, who was on the verge of making breakthrough in his research has been murdered in his Pennsylvania home in Saturday.



Bing Liu who was on the verge of scientific breakthrough died on multiple gunshot wounds which include a gunshot wounds on the head.

Until his murder, Liu was researching on a cellular understanding of the Coronavirus. University of Pittsburgh describes Dr. Liu as an 'outstanding researcher' who will be missed by the university community.

Bing Liu was an assistant professor at the University of Pittsburgh computational and systems biology department before he was murdered.

A report by Pittsburgh local newspaper, Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, further revealed that the researcher was murdered in his home around noon on Saturday when he was shot by Hao Gu, 46, and killed himself after shooting Liu multiple times.

Although there are several claims that Liu was murdered because of his research work on Coronavirus but a report by Local Police claimed that the murder of Liu "was the result of a lengthy dispute regarding an intimate partner”.

The University of Pittsburgh further added that Bing Liu was part of the team carrying out various biological system to understand cellular mechanism of Corona virus. the university stament further reads, “He was patient, intelligent and extremely mature. We will miss him very much,” it said.

“Dr Bing Liu was an outstanding researcher, who has earned the respect and appreciation of many colleagues in the field, and made unique contributions to science,”

The University further added that they will make an effort go complete what Liu started and use it to pay homage to his scientific excellence.
