Kogi Gov. Disowns Social Media Accounts

Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello has disowned social media accounts opened in his name, saying he has never authorised any person or organization to open social media in his name.



In a press statement signed the Chief Press Secretary to Kogi State Governor, Petra Akinti-Onyegbule, Gov. Bello said he had never authorised any person or organisation to open Instagram, Facebook, Twitter or any other social media account in his name; nor has he ordered anyone to post any message on his behalf.

The governor distance himself from a recent ridiculous tweet by a twitter handle that was opened in his name but unrelated to the governor and his office.

The statement reads: “Our attention has been brought to a viral tweet made by a handle supposedly belonging to Governor Yahaya Bello.
“Once again, we seize this opportunity to inform the public that a number of social media accounts have been opened particularly on Instagram and Twitter in the name of YAHAYA BELLO, GOVERNOR OF KOGI STATE.

“Whilst some of these accounts clearly state that they are parody accounts, many people have taken information transmitted via such handles as official. The public is hereby called to disregard every information emanating therefrom and to not carry out any transactions or enter into any agreements with operators of such accounts.

“The general public is also called to note once again that official social media handle of Kogi State Government House is ‘Lugard House
