How Emir of Iwo Beats His Fellow Traditional Ruler

All may not be well in Iwo land currently as activists have started calling for the deposing of Emir of Iwo Kingdom, HRH Abdulrasheed Akanbi, for beating up a fellow traditional ruler.

The protest which was started by Femi Fani Kayode is gaining supports from fellow Nigerians who believed the Emir has brought the kingdom of Iwo to disrepute.

Recall that in 2018, HRH, Abdulrasheed Akanbi has taken the title of Emir of Iwo; a kingdom in the Yoruba land of Osun State instead of the age long title of Oluwo of Iwo, explaining that the culture of his Yoruba people has been infiltrated, the reason he said he took Emir title instead of Oluwo of Iwo.

Unfortunately, the king who had earlier defended his adoption of 'Emir' title as a metaphor of disunity amongst the Yoruba traditional rulers and infiltration of Yoruba culture is currently being flayed on the media for disrespecting the culture of the kingdom he wanted to revive its lost glory.

As Nigerians continued to kick against the action of HRH Abdulrasheed Akanbi, if actually the King adopted the Emir title because he wanted to introduce the culture of total respect and honour to the kingship stool, then he is guilty of what he had criticised his Yoruba people for and may have abused the stool.
