Casualties As Fulani Community Burnt to Ashes In Kogi
At least one person has died and several others injured as Fulani community burnt to ashes by unknown fire in Ajaokuta Local Government Area of Kogi State.
Speaking with OperaNews, the State acting Assistant Secretary, Adamu Abubakar, who spoke on behalf of the acting Chairman of Kogi state branch of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria, Ardo Bello Garatu, said the Fulani settlement at Jimgbe area of Ajaokuta local government of Kogi which has 87 thatched houses with 300 inhabitants was completely gutted by fire around 2:00am on February 8.
According to Garatu, the cause of the fire is still unknown adding that game hunters are being suspected to have ignited the fire.
Garatu called on the National Emergency Management Agency and the governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Yahaya Bello to come to the aid of his people who lost their personal belongings and money worth millions of naira, adding that the victims which include children are currently sleeping in the open.
