Presidency Attacks Kwankwaso Over Claims On Kano Deaths
Presidency has berated former Kano State governor, Rabiu Kwankwaso over his claims on the current high rate of deaths in Kano state which has since been tagged as 'mystry death'.
The former governor in a letter he sent to President Muhammadu Buhari claimed that Coronavirus is responsible for the deaths in Kano State and not malaria as claimed, and faulted his political rival claims, governor Abdullahi Ganduje.
Kwankwaso claimed in the letter that the spike in the mystery deaths among the old population in Kano State in the last few weeks where hundreds of funeral have been recorded in cemeteries in the state is as a result of the inability of the state to conduct tests in the state to determine the status of those senior citizens might be responsible for their death.
In a swift response, President Muhammadu Buhari Spokesperson, Garba Shehu, on Wednesday, said if there is reason to believe that the mortality rate in Kano is due to Covid-19 is out of control, it will spell serious development which mean the federal and state government to work closely together to find solutions.
The presidency said there is no time for energy wasted on political point-scoring, whether by current or former holders of office or for any differences between state and federal administrations to be Publicly aired, adding that this is no for talk.
Garba Shehu, however, said the federal government is with the people of Kano State in this trying time.
