After Lifting Ban On Religious Gathering, Kogi Govt Fumigates State Capital Against Coronavirus

Following the growing tension in the state after lifting ban on religious gathering, Kogi State government has fumigated the state capital, Lokoja against Coronavirus.



 The Director of the Lokoja Local Government, Haji a Fati Abubakar, who is handling the fumigation of the state capital, said they have launched a special fumigation exercise of the local government on Sunday in Lokoja.

According to her, the exercise started from Lokoja main entrance to the last point of Lokoja at up Natako, adding that it is part of proactive measures taking by Yahaya Bello's administration in controlling the outbreak of the pandemic.

Hajia Fati commended the effort of governor Yahaya Bello for providing the needed materials to make the exercise successful, stressing that the exercise will continue even though Kogi still has zero case of the virus.

She noted that Kogi State being the main entrance to Abuja, there was need for the state to work hard in seeing the deadly virus does not enter the state capital and the state.

“This is a start-up exercise sanitizing our environment. We are fighting this pandemic from all angles. So we are fighting it through our environment"' she said.

She, however, appealed to the
People of the area to take social distancing serious and stay indoors.

Recalled that governor Yahaya Bello had earlier lifted the ban on religious gathering in the state on April 9, an action that was widely flayed across the country due to the growing number of cases of Covid-19 everyday.
