Anxiety In Kogi As Corps Left Stranded On Highway Over Coronavirus
There is palpable fear in Kogi State as corps was left stranded on the highway after the General Hospital in Egbe, Yagba West Local Government Area of the Statea denied access to the hospital's mortuary.
The General Hospital turned down the request to deposit the corps in the hospital's mortuary as the management of the hospital suspected that deceased died of coronavirus.
Speaking on the reason the General Hospital left the corps stranded on the highway, the Medical Officer of the hospital, Dr Ola Iwarere, said the decision to turned down the owners of the corps from using the mortuary facility of the hospital was inline with the order of the Senior Special Assistant to Kogi State Governor on Security in Charge of the local government, Hon. Tade Oshaloto, who gave an order to ascertain the cause of death of the corps brought from Abuja.
Hon. Tade Oshaloto
The SSA on Security to the governor in the local government, however, recommended that the family of the deceased should immediately proceed to bury their corps, telling the sympathizers to return back to Abuja because of lack of facilities to isolate them in the local government.
Recall that governor Yahaya Bello had earlier declared the lockdown of the State and ordered that people coming into the state will be made to go through test to ascertain they are not carrying the deadly virus into the state.
The stringent measure taken by the governor has yielded positive result in the fight against coronavirus as Kogi State still record zero case of the deadly virus.
The decision of the SSA on security to the governor in Yagba West to turn down the corps coming from Abuja is inline with the decision of the governor to protect every citizen of the state.
