Kuroko Community Repels Attack to Destroy Another Natasha's Banner By Suspected APC Thugs
The people of Kuroko community resisted another attack by suspected APC thugs to destroy the campaign banner of the senatorial candidate of Social Democratic Party (SDP) for Kogi Central senatorial district, Barr. Natasha Akpoti.
In what could be termed as community resistance of the renewed political violence in Kogi Central, Kuroko community repelled an attack as thugs suspected to be working for the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Adavi local government made another move to destroy the banner of the first female senatorial candidate in the district.
An SDP member in the area relayed to Confluence Reporters that they have been receiving threat from the thugs in the last few days to get the banner off the street and put an end to their weekly ward meeting, alleging that the order is from Adavi Local Government Administrator, Hon. Joseph Salami and other APC bigwigs in the area.
The source recalled how they have reported the threats from the thugs to Kuroko Community Chairman, Mr. Muhammed, a former police officer and Kuroko Community Leader, Adayi Adozuka on two different occasions.
The source added that, it is undemocratic and wicked to prevent opposition parties from holding their gathering and stopping them from posting their campaign materials.
"We respect the law of the land, we took the necessary steps and reported the unruly behaviours of the APC thugs to the community leaders after their threats on two different occasions.
"They came here where we mounted the banner around 4:00am today to destroy the banner and the community resisted them because their actions and that of their sponsors is repugnant to democracy.
"The community leaders are still alive, please go and ask them if we have been reporting the threats of these APC thugs to them or not.", the source said.
The source disclosed that after the suspected APC thugs failed in their attempt to destroy the banner, they quickly rushed to police station to arrest SDP chairman in Kuroko, Abdul Wokili and the SDP woman leader in the area the source identified as Khadijat, adding that APC members alleged that SDP thugs invaded their chairman's house and beat him up.
According to the source, this is farther from the truth, calling on the relevant authorities in Kogi Central to wake up and address the renewed political violence in the senatorial district before it deteriorates to a full blown political crises.
