Kogi: Gov. Bello Shops For New commissioner of Police
Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello has reportedly influenced the removal of Kogi State Commissioner of police, CP Ali Janga alongside some other senior police officers in the state for allegedly organising peace talk that went against the state governor.
A source who works in police headquarters said, after influencing the removal of Ali Janga for not being loyal to do his bidding anymore, the governor is desperately shopping for a replacement that will be able to do his whims and caprices as the election draws closer.
The source linked the sudden removal of Mr. Janga to the recent peace talk he organised where the five local government Administrators in Kogi Central senatorial district were invited alongside candidates of political parties to find a lasting solution to the renewed political thuggery in Kogi Central.
The source added that the other sin of the embattled Police Boss was calling for peace pact and invited candidates of political parties in the state to sign Peace agreement where the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state refused to register their presence which foiled the peace pact.
The source disclosed that the governor blocked all efforts to make peace and make the 2019 election in the state violence free despite President Muhammadu Buhari and his PDP counterpart, Atiku Abubakar signed the peace pact ahead of the 2019 general election few weeks ago.
The source added that the governor who was not happy with the recent development being orchestrated by the commissioner of police by trying to avert the impending political crisis especially in Kogi Central pushed for his immediate removal and some other senior police officers in the state.
It will be recalled that, the state governor had earlier being accused of using the fell-out commissioner of police for dirty political witch-hunt in the case of Senator Dino Melaye, a case the Inspector-General of Police gave an order for his immediate removal as Kogi Police boss on 28 March for his role in the alleged escape of some suspects who were arrested in connection to the case.
The suspects, who have allegedly named Mr. Melaye as their financier and arms provider, reportedly escaped from custody in the morning of 28 March, hours before they were due to be arraigned in court in Lokoja, the state capital.
It was gathered that because of the alleged political witch-hunt the governor was using the commissioner of police to play, the governor boldly objectedly the decision of the IGP and fought for Mr. Janga to remain in Kogi State until their relationship gone sour and the governor pushed him away and opt for a new bride.
