Kogi Central: SDP Candidate Gives Business Start-up Grants
The senatorial candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) for Kogi Central senatorial district, Barr. Natasha Akpoti, Sunday, took her campaign to the popular Okene Bariki Market and Manaka market in Obehira, giving business start-up grant to the traders.
While giving out the business start-up fund to the marketers, Akpoti said she is committed to fighting poverty in the land and creates opportunities for business to thrive.
She assured the women that if given the mandate to represent the people of Kogi Central, within the one year of her tenure, she will give them more business grant to boost their business, an initiative she said the traders will not pay back.
Reacting to the demands of the traders, Natasha disclosed that she will build toilets in the Kogi Central marktets to ease the stress of the traders going inside bush to relief themselves, adding that electrification of the markets is also party of her plan.
The social entrepreneur said, entrepreneur is the answer to the scarcity of job in Nigeria, the reason she said will create all avenue for businesses to thrive.
She had earlier taken Ebiraland by storm on Saturday when she drove her campaign train to the road and embarked on road tour from Okehi, Adavi and Okene local government which saw many Ebira sons and daughters trekking from Ihima to Okene to March for Natasha and assured her of their unalloyed support to change the narrative of the district.
Natasha, the first female senatorial candidate in Kogi Central is the first woman to have ever dared to throw her hat in the ring against men in the senatorial district.
Hitherto to her political ambition, Natasha became famous by her advocacy for the revitalisation of Ajaokuta steel company, a struggle she championed and led protest and presented at National Assembly and national televisions.
