Natasha Akpoti Challenges Other Kogi Central Senatorial Candidates to a Debate
In her bid to halt the status quo, the Senatorial Candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) for Kogi Central senatorial district, Barr. Natasha Akpoti on Thursday called for a debate amongst other contenders in the senatorial district.
While calling on reputable body to help organize the debate, Akpoti disclosed that she believed the only way the electorate can evaluate the strength and plan of those vying to represent them is through open debate where they will unveil their work plan and how they intend to achieving it.
If other candidates are ready to throw their hats in the ring, Natasha Akpoti will be debating with Yakubu Oseni, the APC candidate and the incumbent, Senator Ahmed Ogembe who is the candidate of PDP.
Before answering the people's call to be the change she desired,
Natasha Akpoti has been at forefront championing advocacy for the resuscitation of the moribund Ajaokuta Steel Company situated in Ajaokuta town in Kogi state.
Natasha’s advocacy was, however, termed as “disruptive” of the status quo and earned her laurels within and outside the shores of Nigeria, and became known as a patriotic, nationalistic rebel nicknamed the
“Queen of Steel” due to the feisty
and uncommon valour in which she led the advocacy to the hallowed chamber.
She has often reiterated that, “all I did was out of share patriotism and love for my country Nigeria. I exist today as a direct product of the relationship between the Soviet Union and Nigeria and for the sake of the big industrialization dream both nations shared. It breaks my heart when I watch the steel mill deteriorate by the year and its direct correlation, the collapse of Nigeria’s economy due to its inability to diversify from the oil sector.”
