The candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) for Kogi Central senatorial district, Barr. Natasha Akpoti, Saturday, bagged Ebira Peoples Association (EPA)
award for her excellent service to the people of Ebiraland as she moved her campaign train to Adavi local government.
Akpoti received the award in a programme tagged Recognition of service to Ebira Race; Celebrating Heritage and Excellence by the Apex body of Ebira race; Ebira Peoples Association.
Giving the meritorious award, the National President of the association, Dr Musa Adeiza said Natasha has distinguished herself as an altruistic leader who gave all her best to fight for her fatherland and promote the good image of Ebiraland in the committee of tribes in Nigeria.
According to him, Natasha refused to be cowed and led the advocacy for the revitalisation of Ajaokuta steel when others went into hidden which he said eventually got the right attention from the lawmakers.
In his words, "Natasha Akpoti, a woman of substance is a true daughter of the soil. She stood firm when others went into hidden and fought courageously for the common interest of Ebiraland and led Ajaokuta advocacy like never before.
"We are proud of you and Ebiraland is proud to have you, accept this award from us as a recognition of your excellent service to Ebiraland", he said.
Appreciating the Ebira apex body for recognizing her sacrifice to change the narrative of Kogi Central, Natasha said she is committed to do more, adding that Kogi Central senatorial district has all it takes to create wealth and employment opportunities for the old and the teeming youths.
"I am a mother and I know the pain of mothers seeing their children staying at home without job after going through pain to send them to school.
"I am committed to transform Kogi Central, but I cannot do it alone, let's collaborate to change our narrative irrespective of Party affiliations", she said.
Earlier, Natasha took Adavi local government by storm as the council stood agog for the campaign of the first female senatorial candidate in Kogi Central.
From Kabba Junction, to Adavi local government secretariat down to the popular Inorere junction, Ebira people stood in thousands for Natasha's campaign, declaring their unflinching supports for the female senatorial candidate.
Speaking on Natasha's general acceptance, Director General of Natasha Akpoti Campaign Organisation, Mohammed Sadiq
said Ebira people has never declared an open support for an individual like this before.
According to him, Natasha Akpoti's general acceptance is unconnected to her uncommon zeal for the good of Kogi Central, Kogi State and Nigeria at large.
"After the death of Onono Idogido who led other Ebira women to protest against the injustice of the colonialist, Kogi Central has never had a fearless and altruistic leader who put her life beyond the red line and fights for the common good of the people, this is an indication that Ebira people are ready to right the wrongs of the past", Sadiq said.
