Lamido To Be Prosecuted For Alleged Breach Of Public Peace- Police
The Nigerian Police Kano division has stated that the former governor of Jigawa state Sule Lamido who was arrested after on Sunday
will be charged to court for alleged breach of public Peace.
Lamido was arrested on Sunday following a complaint by Jigawa State government that the former governor incited his supporters to disrupt the upcoming local council elections in the state.
Kano State Police spokesman Sambo Muhammed confirmed on Sunday that former Jigawa State Governor Sule Lamido would be charged to court for inciting a breach of public peace.
In his words, “Today, His Excellency, the former governor of Jigawa State, honored the police invitation sent to him to come and explain to the police his response to the allegation leveled against him by the Jigawa State government
"It is a statement of fact that inciting public disturbance is a criminal offense contrary to section 114 of the Penal Code of Nigeria. His Excellency is currently under investigation and in police custody while the result of the investigation will be made.
"The case will be charged upon the completion of the investigation,” he said.
