Austin Okai's Re-arrest After Bail, A National Shame – Phrank Shaibu
The former Chief Communications Manager to former governor of Kogi State Captain Idris Wada, Phrank Shaibu, has described the re-arrest of Austin Okai, a blogger and activist as a national shame and height of insensitivity by the authorities.
This was made known in statement signed by the former manager, where he decried that Okai was arrested by officers of the Special Anti Robbery Squad (SARS) after he was granted bail by the magistrate Court.
In his own words, he said "This is indeed a national shame and an open disgrace. It's the height of insensitivity. I'm totally shocked that Comrade Okai was re-arrested inside the court after the magistrate had granted him bail.
This is clearly a barbaric and belligerent act." he noted.
Shaibu however come hard on the Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, who was alleged to be the mastermind of the initial arrest, detention and re-arrest of the celebrated blogger.
It could be recalled that Okai was arrested on Sunday, April 9, 2017 after he was allegedly trailed to an eatery on Abacha Barrack road in Utako area of Abuja by security operatives believed to be from the Special Anti-Robbery Squad, SARS over alleged criticisms of the government of Kogi state.
