NYSC Debunks Plan To Pay Arrears of Minimum Wage To Corps Members

The management of National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has debunked the news making the round that NYSC has planned to pay arrears of minimum wage to corps members.

In a post on the social media handle of the management, it described the information as a false story purported to have emanated from the Director-General of the Scheme, Brigadiers General Shuaibu Ibrahim.

The NYSC management noted that the fulfillment of the promise of the increment by the Federal Government is borne out of utmost concern for the welfare of the patriotic youths, adding that the pay rise commences on January 2020 as budgeted in the 2020 fiscal year and there was no provision for payment of arrears to either the serving corps members or those that have completed their service year.

The management of NYSC therefore, advised Corps Members and members of the public to disregard the purported news from the DG NYSC announcing the payment of various sums of money as arrears to ex - Corps Members of 2018 Batches and serving Corps Members of 2019 Batches.
The management further directed Corps Members and members of the public to verify information from the NYSC official platforms or the State Secretariats nationwide on issues concerning the Corps.
