Gov. Yahaya Bello to Dissolve Administrators this Week, Poll to Hold April 4

THE Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello is set to dissolve all the 21 local government administrators will this week according to source close to Lugard House.

It was reliably gathered that the planned dissolution of the administrators is part of the state government arrangement to conduct elections into the council areas. The proposed Local government elections which has elicited reactions across the state is tentatively scheduled for April 4, 2020.

The governor in like manner is expected to constitute and inaugurate the State Independent Electoral Commission, SIEC this week.

Sources from the government circle said the governor has planned to return the running of the council areas back to Director of Local Government, DLG, pending when the election will be conducted. The local government administrators were appointed by governor Bello on May 6, 2016 and have even spent more than the three years stipulated for elected council chairmen in the state; though few have been changed. Many of the administrators have declared their interest to contest for the council poll, while many who are yet to make categorically statement of contesting have done that by their body languages.

Almost all the administrators have kick started a shadow form of campaign in their respective areas. However, feelers from the governors camp shows that many of the administrators will not return based on rotational arrangements and ineptitude, amidst other political permutations in the council areas.
