Court Sends Man to 14years Imprisonment For Raping Epileptic Girl
A Magistrate Court sitting in Igarra, Akoko-Edo has sentenced forty year old man, Vincent Akande, for raping a fourteen year old epileptic girl.
Akande was said to have raped his victim by the riveraside of Ososo community while fetching stones for sale.
In his ruling, the Chief Magistrate, Nosa Musoe, held that the accused was “deceptive” thereby sentenced Akande to 14 years imprisonment without an option of fine.
Reacting to the judgment, the executive director of BraveHeart Initiative for Youth & Women, BHI, Priscilla Usiobaifo, expressed deep satisfaction on the judgment, describing the verdict as “a glint of hope” for victims of sexual assault.
