Kogi Moves To Strengthen Border Security To Avoid Infiltration As Amotekun Begins Operation

The Kogi State government said it has put measures in place to strengthen its border security to prevent infiltration of external forces as Operation Amotekun begins.

This is coming at the heat of the recent launch of Operation Amotekun, Western Nigeria Security Network by South-West governors.

The Special Adviser to Kogi State governor on Security, Navy Commander Jerry Omodara (Rtd), on Satuday, made this known on a radio programme in the Stste capital, Lokoja, said the state is at the centre of the country and may witness infiltration of fleeing criminals from the South West, the reason he said the border security will be tightened.

Omodara said what the South West governors are doing is not different from the vigilante groups in Kogi State, adding that it's only the name that is different.

He dislcoaed that Kogi State government is aware of the possible influx of criminals from South West with the commencement of Operation Ametokun because of the centre nature of Kogi State which made the state to share border with nine states, adding that governor Yayaha Bello has put measures in place to prevent influx of criminals running away from South West.

He disclosed that the state government has instructed the twenty one local government areas of the state to form vigilante groups at their respective local government to manage the security situation of the state.
