Nine Kogi Varsity Students Dead, as Cultists Strike

...students on the run for their lives.

In less than a week, no fewer than nine students of Kogi State University Anyigba have reportedly been killed in coordinated attacks by rival cultism groups in the school.

The reports reaching Ebira Reporters from the campus indicated that the recent attacks have surpassed the usual cases of cultists' strike in the institution, as death toll rises by the day.

One of the students who spoke with our correspondent on the condition of anonymity, said that students had started traveling home because campus was no longer safe for them.

From the reports, some of the assassinated students were killed close to the gate of the campus, while some in their lodges off-campus in silent attacks.

"First thing tomorrow morning, I'm returning home and will not resume school until the government makes the school safer enough for us all. As for now, we are not safe. Silent killings are going on that we don't even hear about until pictures surfaces in our departmental whatsapp groups," she said.

One of the students on twitter posted:
"People are being killed everyday in the state owned Kogi State University but the state Government has refused to pay attention, know why? Cos votes are more important than your life."

On the response of security agencies, it was gathered that men of the Nigerian Army have been on routine patrol within the campus on investigations, but the toll remained on the rise.

Most recent victim was simply identified as Abdulrahaman, a 200 level students of the Department of History and International Studies.
