Police officers decorated with new rank in Ogori-Magongo - Dele Jonathan
No fewer than seven police men received promotion to the rank of either inspector or Sargent today at the Divisional Police Office headquarters in Akpafa.
The Ogori-Magongo Administrator, Hon. Akande Moses who was at the ceremony at the Council police headquarters and assisted in decorating the newly promoted officers described the exercise as unique and very deserving of the beneficiaries.
Akande explained that the key to the maintenance of peace and security in our society today was largely dependant of the police force and that their role was both indispensable and priceless.
This according to the Administrator was because while every other person would find shelter away from rain and sun and have peaceful sleep at night, the policemen would put their own lives on the line to ensure that security is not compromised.
While wishing the newly promoted officers brighter future, the Administrator said he was additionally glad to see his orderly, Mr Aliu Mohammed as one of the police men elevated from the rank of corporal to the rank of Sargent.
The Council boss then promised a financial assistance of five hundred thousand naira to the Divisional Police Officers to enhance minor renovation of the police headquarter.
Earlier in his opening address the DPO in the area, SP Israel Aiyegba explained that a large number of promotion across the rank and file of the Nigerian police have recently been graciously approved by the Nation's inspector General of Police and that he was honoured and officially saddled with the responsibility of decorating the officers promoted with his Division.
The DPO called on the officers to take their jobs seriously and to see their present promotion as a promotion to greater responsibilities, while ensuring that they perform their duties to the delight of the general public.
He warned the newly promoted police officers not to jeopardize the responsibility and trust response on them by the Inspector General of Police and ensure that they justify the promotion.
