Kogi PDP Crisis Deepens, Chairman Public Communication Committee Withdraws From Campaign Council

The crisis rocking Kogi chapter of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) may not end anytime soon as chairman of the public communications committee of the council, Majeed Dahiru, announces his withdrawal.

Majeed Dahiru, a newspaper columnist, announced his withdrawal from the governorship campaign council of PDP in Kogi state in a statement on Wednesday, saying his decision to withdraw as chairman of the public communications committee of the council was to allow him continue his role as an “advocate of good governance”.

The council was constituted after Musa Wada emerged as the PDP candidate for the November 16 governorship election.

“After due consultations with family, friends and associates, I have come to the decision to withdraw from the Kogi State PDP gubernatorial council,” he said.

“To this effect, I hereby relinquish my position as the Chairman of the Public Communications Committee of the Kogi State PDP gubernatorial campaign council.

“In arriving at this decision, I was guided by the need to continue in my role as a public commentator and advocate of good governance in a manner that should remain multi partisan.

“I wish to express my profound gratitude to the DG of the Kogi State PDP gubernatorial campaign council, the Hon Tajudeen Yusuf for considering me worthy of his confidence and trust; indeed Kogi state is blessed to have one of the finest parliamentarians in the 4th republic.

“I will conclude by expressing my unreserved well wishes to the PDP family in Kogi state as they go to the gubernatorial polls in November 2019.”

Wada is seeking to unseat Yahaya Bello, incumbent governor and candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the election.
