Bursary: ‘Stage Peaceful Protest To Press Home Your Demand’, Ajagun Advises Kogi Students

Okun students leader and youth mobilizer, Comrade Ajagun Opeyemi Samuel has advised Kogi state students who registered for the 2019 bursary incentive to stage a peaceful protest in Lokoja in a bid to press home the demand of their bursary payment from Kogi state government.

In a statement issued on Thursday, Ajagun expressed worries over the delayed payment of bursary and scholarship to indigenous students indigene by Governor Yahaya Bello led administration after collecting the sum of N650 each them.

Ajagun who promised to mobilize all students from the state with their permanent voters cards (PVC) across the north zone and southwest of Nigeria to participate in the November 16 governorship election said that the students may not support the governor in the forthcoming election if the bursary incentive is not paid.

The student leader stated that he is willing, capable and fully ready to take charge and be responsible of bringing Kogi State students to participate in the election.

“Let the President of National Association of Kogi State Students (NAKOSS), Comrade Omeiza Troy and his senate president, Comrade Ajaun Emmanuel in conjunction with other students associations in Kogi state mobilise students and occupy Kogi State Government House until the payment of bursary and scholarship is fulfilled.

“One of the roles of a responsible government is to provide succour and pay much attention to the welfare of the students by giving the students incentives in form of bursary to assist their education programs. I wonder why the same government is now extorting the same students it supposed to pay,” he said.

Ajagun advised that no student should be involved in any form of voluntary campaign for the governor until his promise to pay the bursary is fulfilled or the registration fees for each student which is N650 is refunded.

He appealed to the Senior Special Assistant to the state governor on Students Matters, Hon Joshua Omonu (Levels Pumping) and Special Adviser on Youth, Empowerment, Students and Sports, Hon MD Eseyin to rise up and speak for the students as expected of their offices.

He implored the executive of NAKOSS not to be scared of fighting and defending the rights of the students in the entire state as he will be ready to render any assistance when needed.
