OPINION: Will the Sting of Death Ever Get Tired?

Whilst the modern science has done a great job in overturning unimaginable calamities and made life easy, death continued to be the greatest challenge yet to be surmounted.

Death has claimed many talents, youths who were motivators to other people, and leaders who were idolised for their exceptional leadership acumen. Death never spare them because of their unique physique, outstanding knowledge nor did death spare the leaders who were the hope of many.

While growing up as a child, the name Adamu Atta was one that rang bell in my head.  My uncle never fail to reiterate how our people and our land benefited immensely from him when he was the governor of Kwara state as an Ebira man. He will took his time to mention numerous social and infrastructural benefits that stand as an attestations of Adamu Atta's government.

Unfortunately, death never spare the 'hero', the then governor that decided who gets what went into oblivion, many people believed the first civilian governor of Kwara State was dead before he finally died on May 1, 2014. Governor Alhaji Adamu Atta became part of history.

The string of death never get tired. Senator AT Ahmed who I've seen wearing bounties of accolades because of the level my people loved and valued his leadership acumen fell to the string of death.
Undoubtedly, Senator AT Ahmed was unimaginably powerful, influencial and loved by Ebiras. many would have happily sacrifice their lives for him to live, but death never ask for the extortionate bargain, Adayi AT fell with his visions for Kogi Central and Kogi State and vanished in vanity.

Brother Abdulazeez Omeiza Aliu was an ideal example of handsome, humane, down to earth and carried the vision of a new Kogi State like a personal problem. I was one of the few undergraduates that benefited from his annual reach out programme in 2014, unfortunately I never had the opportunity to meet him and appreciate his kind gesture.
Mr. Abdulazeez Omeiza Aliu fell in a ghastly accident along Kaduna-Abuja high way, he died with his vision of becoming the governor of Kogi State, death never spare his fine face, he was never exempted for being humane. His money was still in my account when the news of his death broke me down.

While we jealously held on to the remaining people who were making Ebira proud across the globe, the string of death refused to get tired, a respected scholar, a reknown writer, Dr. Adinoyi Ojo Onukaba fell before our very eyes.  We watched helplessly as the  former Managing Director of the Daily Times was packaged into the filthy earth. Adayi Onukaba whose knowledge and lifestyle was an inspiration to many fell cheaply. The rest about the respected scholar was history, death refused to honour his exceptional mien.

My cousin, Alabi Sarah was everything an ideal young woman should be. Beautiful, focused and ambitious. Few months after she visited us and told me about life in higher institutions and why I need to be committed to my studies, I heard of her death. She never had the opportunity to return back to school to complete her studies, she never had the opportunity to see me as a university student, she died in a ghastly accident , buried with her aspirations, visions and ambitions.

Dr. Ahmed Victor Idowu, a young and vibrant medical Doctor whose success story was a motivation to many youths was never spared. Dr. was such a talent I never get tired of reading his articles anytime he dropped them, he was young, set to marry his love but unfortunately he never had the opportunity to walk down the aisle with the love of his life.  Dr.  Victor was never spared, he died while practising his profession, leaving his aged mother, fiance, families and friends behind.

No!  Death never spared the rich, the young, and intellectuals. After what seems impossible was achieved through the efforts of his hardworking mother, Eng. Siyaka Tijani graduated and got his dream job. He was set to give back to his mom and marry his beautiful fiance. Unfortunately, the string of death struck him, he died in a ghastly accident in Lagos, leaving his fiance and hardworking mother behind. Tmon as he was foundly called was buried with his dreams and aspirations.
Many has fallen and more will continue to fall. Surely there's no elixir to death and the string of death will never get tired of striking.

Dear youths, intellectuals and leaders of the day, this is the life we struggle and hastled for. This the life people kill for just to achieve temporary positions and wealth.

Like Hamza Lamisi posited,  "Perhaps, we live within borrowed time, walk in rented shoes and breath with timed air."

Death never gives any notification, we may fall at any point in time.  But the question is, what will the people say and write about you?
