Ihima Students' Union Executives Complete 2018 Career Talk
As part of the annual educational programme of the union, Ihima students' union (ISU) executives have completed the the 2018 career talk of the union started few days ago.
The programme which started on Monday was completed on Friday when the relentless executives of the union visited the remaining secondary schools.
Withing the five days, the executives of the union visited all the secondary schools in Ihima to enlighten students on their choice of careers and educate them on what to do to become a better Nigerian.
In the course of the programme, topical issues like drug abuse, cultism and prostitution were vehemently discussed by the executives.
No fewer than 17 secondary schools were visited by the leadership of the students' union.
While educating the students on the essence of education, they made the students to understand that they are the future ambassadors of the society, advising them to be conscious of what they involve themselves into in order not to end up being a nuisance to their families and the society at large.
The executives of the union also took their time to advise students on moral conduct, the need to go for courses they have passion for and also the courses they are sure they can do best.
The president of the union, Comrade Onivehu Musa Habeeb on one of his speeches advised the students to make their studies major priority for now adding that anything that would be a treat to their studies should be avoided.
On her own contributions, the Secretary General of the union, Comrade Yusuf Muyiba said,
"fear of failure is the beginning of failure itself, believe in yourself and know that there is no dream far fetched, you can achieve it if you can dream it", she said.
Comrade Lawal Jamiu while speaking on the effect of drug abuse said, the degree at which youth abuse drug is alarming, he emphasised that a prescribed drugs that is taking at normal dosage still has side effect sometimes talk more of the ones taking without the doctor's prescription. He then advised the students to desist from any form of drug abuse.
Speaking with Confluence Reporters, the Secretary General of the union Comrade Yusuf Muyiba said, "the career talk is one of the annual programmes of union. Programmes like quiz, debate and spelling bee will still come up and we will so much appreciate sponsorship of any of the programmes," she said.
