Kogi Central: Kogi SDP Chairman, Others Testify At Tribunal

The Kogi State Social Democratic Party (SDP) Chairman, Alhaji Muktar Atimah alongside other witnesses for Natasha Akpoti of SDP testified on Wednesday at the Kogi State Election Petition Tribunal sitting in Abuja.



After affirming his statement of oath, Atimah tendered the letters written to Inspector General of Police and Director General Kogi State Security Service, Lokoja, on the attacks launched on his party candidate and members by Kogi APC dated 29 January 29, and February 23, 2019 which was accepted by the chairman of the three man panel, Justice O.A. Chijioke and marked as exhibit E44 and E45.

In the course of the cross examination, Counsel to the third Respondent, Abdulwahab Muhammad alleged that Muktar Atimah  is neither an SDP member nor chairman adding that Eng. Inda Abdulrahman is the Kogi SDP chairman.

In a swift response, Atimah pointed out that he remain the authentic Kogi SDP chairman, adding that the said Eng. Inda Abdulrahman had long decamped to APC on Sunday September 16, 2018 in an APC decamping rally held in Confluence Stadium, Lokoja Kogi State in public glare.

The lead Counsel to Natasha
Akpoti of SDP, Ayo Asala (SAN) with petition No. EPT/KG/SEN/02/2019 presented other witnesses who alleged that the 2019 Kogi Central election was marred by violence,  ballot-stuffing, vote buying, over voting, multiple thumb-printing, non accreditation of voters, amongst other irregularities mostly in Adavi, Ajaokuta and Okene local government areas.

Also amongst the witnesses wad, Bestman Odigbo, the Head of Situation Room for Natasha Akpoti Campaign organization during the election.

In his statement of oath before the Tribunal, Odigbo tendered results and CTC of six polling units of Kuroko 1, and Uruvucheba adopted as
Exhibit B46A,  B46B , B47A , B47B, B48A, B48B, B49A and B49B respectively.

Asala (SAN), disclosed that the witnesses complete the presentation of witnesses in petition EPT/KG/SEN/02/2019 by Natasha Akpoti of SDP.

While waiting for defence, the chairman of the three man panel, Hon. Justice O.A Chijioke adjourned the consolidated petition by Natasha Akpoti of SDP and Ahmed Ogembe of PDP to Saturday July 13, for the Petitioners with petition
EPT/KG/SEN/08/2019 Ahmed Ogembe of PDP to present his witnesses.
