Meet Nigeria's First Female Fighter Jet Pilot Fighting Boko Haram In Borno
Flying Officer Kafayat Omalara Sanni is Nigeria's first ever female fighter jet pilot combatant, she was winged with late Tolulope Arotile, Nigeria's first female combatant helicopter pilot who died on Tuesday.
Sanni Kafayat and late Tolulope Arorile made history when they emerged the first female fighter jet pilot combatant and the first female helicopter pilot combatant respectively and were both winged in October 15, 2019.
During her training in 2017, Kafayat emerged the overall best pilot at the Nigerian Armed Forces 401 Flying Training School in Kaduna State.
Kafayat proceeded to the United States where she was amongst the 63 international students from 23 different countries who were trained at the famous Columbus AFB, United States, where she also emerged as one of the best students.
Lieutenant Kafayat completed her pilot training in the United States on July 25, 2019 while late Tolulope completed her training in South Africa.
Kafayat had been flying the famous T-6 Texan II before returning to Nigeria. Flying officer Kafayat Sanni is one of the five women pilots in Nigeria and the only fighter pilot amongst the five women.
Flying officer Kafayat has been at the theater of war in Borno, playing a major role in the ongoing counter insurgency operations in the North East part of the country.
Kafayat is courageous and fearless and already contributing her quota to the fight against the insurgency in the North East. She is living her dream of being the Nigeria first female fighter jet pilot and making tremendously contribution to her Country.
