Kogi Govt Finally Speaks On School Reopening
Kogi State Government has finally spoken on the reopening of school which many parents have been waiting for.
Speaking on behalf of the state government, the Commission for Education, Science and Technology, Hon. Wemi Jones
disclosed Governor Yahaya Bello's administration readiness to comply with the reopening of schools in Kogi State if the decision is finally approved by the various stakeholders involved.
The Education Commissioner made this known on Tuesday in Lokoja, saying despite plans by the Federal Government through PTF to reopen school for transition students, States are however, limited due to their individual peculiarities to make categorical statements.
Mr Jones Maintains that because of the federal system in operation in Nigeria, Kogi State and other states of the federation are weighing in on their peculiarities, explaining that pronouncements would be made soon after a meeting of Education Commissioners and stakeholders that are in the education sectors.
He added that the l meeting is geared toward taking a position based on their peculiarities and measures suitable for schools reopening.
According to him, such decision to reopen schools mist take note of the private schools and the need for them meet up with the requirements that help to observe safety protocols.
He added that this is the reason pronouncements has not been made nu Kogi State and others on the PTF directives.
The Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, however,
assured the people of the state that Yahaya Bello's government is prepared and ready yo open schools once it is all agreed upon,adding there is no cause to worry by parents as decisions will be taken in the best interest of the health and safety of the people of the state.
