Meet The Man Who Started Ó Tó Gẹ́ Movement That Ended Saraki's Political Dynasty
Every revolution is nurtured and started by an individual who felt aggrieved with the system and take the front role in leading a revolution to end the system.
This is the case of Ó Tó Gẹ́ slogan that was started by 80 year old LAk Jimoh, an acronym for Lazeez Ayinla Kolawole Jimoh who originated Ó Tó Gẹ́ that turned into a movement that eventually ended the long Saraki political dynasty in Kwara State.
LAK Jimoh was moved to start the Ó Tó Gẹ́ campaign slogan which translates to “Enough is Enough’’ to end the long reign of Saraki political dynasty.
Ó Tó Gẹ́ movement was so powerful that it took over the nooks and crannies of Kwara state in the 2019 general election and turned to be the most powerful weapon that ended Saraki's decades of political hegemony in the state which made Saraki and his political party, PDP's unprecedentedly lost the presidential election and all the three senatorial seats and six House of Representatives seats that eventually ended decades of Saraki's dynasty.
The former Senate President, Dr Bukola Saraki inherited the political dynasty from his late father, late Dr Olusola Saraki and the the former Senate President maintained the political dynasty until it was ended by Ó Tó Gẹ́ movement invented by LAK Jimoh in 2019.
The biggest blow was the defeat of the former Senate President in his Kwara Central, his own stronghold which was won by the Senatorial Candidate of APC, Ibrahim Oloriegbe. Ó Tó Gẹ́ did not only end Saraki political dynasty, it also retired the former Senate President from the senate chamber.Osaraki only manage to poll 68,994 votes behind the APC candidate, Mr Oloriegbe who polled 123,808 votes to defeat defeat the former Senate President.
The inventor of the Ó Tó Gẹ́ movement, Mr Jimoh is a graduate of the Political Science from the prestigious University of Lagos in 1971. He had contested for senate in 2011 against Saraki but lost in what he described as “robbed of his mandate’’.
Ó Tó Gẹ́ movement by Mr Jimoh in 2019 that eventually ended Saraki political dynasty was like a pay back time to quench his years of pain.
Although Mr Jimoh had disclosed that he was moved to end Saraki's decades of political dynasty to put an end to what he described as the era of bad governance in Kwara State.
