Suspected Gunmen Attack, Kill Two Soldiers In Okene

Armed group suspected to be gunmen on Wednesday attacked a miltaty checkpoint in Okene Local Government Area of Kogi State in the evening and left two officers of Nigerian Navy dead. 

Confirming the unfortunate incidence, the Chairman of the Local Government, Hon Abdulrazaq Muhammad said the team of five soldiers were attacked by the gunmen just while they were resuming for duty at the checkpoint axis of the local government. 

"Two officers have been confirmed dead and two were injured and currently receiving treatment in hospital. One officer escaped unhurt," he stated.

Residents around the axis had shared the news on social media, expressing worry over the gunshots that threw the community in fear.
