LG Polls: PDP Will Clear All Seats In Kogi East – Mamman Boasts

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has expressed confidence that its chairmanship and councillorship candidates will emerge victorious in the December 12 local government elections in Kogi state.

Speaking with newsmen after the party’s Kogi East zonal stakeholders meeting in Anyigba on Thursday, the state deputy publicity secretary, Muhammed Kabir, said PDP will win in all nine local government councils in the senatorial district.

Kabir called on Kogi State Independent Electoral Commission (KOSIEC) to stick with its promise to ensure free and fair polls. He insisted that results of councillorship election must be collated and announced at their respective wards.

Speaking at the meeting, the zonal chairman of the party in Kogi East, Alhaji Mamman Pele, called on PDP leaders and supporters to work in unity and ensure victory for its candidates.

Pele commended party candidates for their boldness and resourcefulness. He assured them of the party’s support to ensure their victory at the polls.

He reiterated the party’s determination to win December 5 by-election in Ibaji state constituency and the December 12 local government elections. Pele vowed that henceforth, Kogi East meetings will be held in the senatorial district as against the practice of holding such in Abuja.

He warned that any member who violates the decision on zonal meetings will be sanctioned.

He said PDP will encourage ‘home grown’ politicians, adding that the era of ‘strangers’ coming at eleventh hour to pick party tickets for elections is over.

Comrade Mohammed Former Kogi state chairman of PDP, Chief John Odawn supported Pele’s position on zonal meetings and diaspora politics. Odawn called on the party to reward dedicated members as against the culture of gifting tickets to diaspora politicians who have made little or no contributions to the growth of the party.
