Kogi Central Curfew: Govt shifts ground, changes to 8AM-6PM
The 24hrs indefinite curfew imposed on the residents of Kogi Central Senatorial District by government of Kogi State in a measure to strengthening the security situation in the five local government of the senatorial district has been changed to 8am-6pm.
This was made known on a popular community radio station, TAO FM. while speaking on the new directive, the radio presenter, Fatima Ohere urged the residents of the affected five local government of Kogi Central Senatorial District to comply with the directive.
It will be recalled that insecurity in Kogi Central has been on the rise lately following the assassination of labour leader Mallam Abdulmumin Yaqub and his friend, Mallam Ibrahim Otaru, who were gunned down at the home of the former in Ozuwaya, Bariki Ward of Okene Local Government Area around 7pm on Wednesday, 1st November, 2017 and the the killing of Abdulganiyu Aduki, an artisan who was killed around 7:30pm on Tuesday, 31st October, 2017 at Nagazi in Adavi Local Government Area. His wife and daughter were also shot during the incidence and are currently hospitalised due to their injuries.
Sequel to the high level of insecurity in the area, the state government in a press release in the late hours of Wednesday imposed a 24-hour curfew on residents of Adavi, Ajaokuta, Okehi, Okene, and Ogori/Magongo local government areas, an effort geared to arrest the ugly trend in the area.
