Why Govt Declared 24hrs Curfew in Kogi Central
Many residents of Kogi central senatorial district continued to ask questions on the reason behind the decision by the state government to declare 24hrs emergency curfew.
It will be recalled that the government had in a press release in the late hours of Wednesday imposed a 24-hour curfew on residents of Adavi, Ajaokuta, Okehi, Okene, and Ogori/Magongo local government areas.
Whilst not stating the reason for the emergency imposition, the government assured residents that the decision was taken in the best interest of the state.
Meanwhile, the Administrator of Okehi local government, Abdulraheem Ohiare stated that the decision was part of security measures to douse threats to peace in the district.
Ohiare who spoke in the evening of Thursday on Tao FM hinted that the time was an opportunity by Special Forces of the military to raid men of the underworld in their dens, an exercise he termed successful.
He also apologised to residents for the inconveniences caused, assuring that normalcy would henceforth be restored.
Ebira Reporters reports that major markets, schools and commercial banks were alll shut down in the district, except for filling stations and Ogori/magongo where residents abruptly went to market.
However, Ohiare said that the time of the curfew will from Friday change to a dusk to dawn exercise.
