Alleged N2billion fraud: Kogi govt moves to arraign accused civil servants

Kogi State Government has concluded arrangement to arraign some officers of the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs as well as other Government's agencies  to Court for criminal conspiracy to misappropriate and mismanage State funds  that amounted to Two Billion, Thirty-six Million, Two Hundred and Two Thousand, Eight Hundred and Thirty-one Naira only (N2, 036,202,831.00).

This was contained in a Statement from the State Ministry of Justice, the officers have been thoroughly investigated and prima-facie cases have been made out against them.

The statement noted that James Bankole Adedoyin, Adegbe Nda Usman, Emmanuel Achem and Abu Audu Omale were found to have criminally conspired to misappropriate and mismanage State Funds to the tune of One Hundred and Fifty-one Million, Twenty-five Thousand Naira only (N151, 025,000.00).

In a similar vein, the Ministry of Justice disclosed fifteen officers in the same Ministry criminally conspired and fraudulently misappropriated and mismanaged public funds to the tune of One Billion, Eight Hundred and Eight-Five Million, One Hundred and Seventy Seven Thousand, Eight Hundred and Thirty-One Naira Only (N1,885,177,831.00).

At the State Universal Basic Education Board under the Chairmanship of Nuhu Ahmed with the following committee members: Abdulraham Tsofada Idris, Gabriel Apah, Osori Abubakar, Amos Omokore, Ismail Ibrahim Shehu and Zainab Aminu, the sum of Ninety Five Million, Two Hundred and Eighty Nine Thousand, Five Hundred and Fifteen Naira (N95, 289,515.55) were said to have been fraudulently misappropriated using fictitious names numbering up to Five Hundred and Fifty-Four (554).

Similarly, Five officers of Kogi State Polytechnic were accused of large scale fraud and financial irregularities to the tune of One Hundred and Fifty Seven Million, Three Hundred and Fifty Thousand, Three Hundred and Eighty-one Naira only (157,350,381).

The accused officers are Dr. Ujiya Abel Adama, Momoh Adeyanju Yahaya, Omale Isaac Damian, Ebiloma Ilenwa and Falodun Alfred Toyin.

The Statement further disclosed that at Kogi State College of Education (Technical) Kabba, a case of fraudulent diversion of funds released for accreditation, manipulation of payroll and other irregularities to the tune of One Hundred and Thirty Four Million, Eight Hundred and Twenty Two Thousand, Three Hundred and Ninety-Seven Naira Nine Kobo only, (N134, 822,397.9) as well as one percent of the sum of Nine Hundred and six Thousand, four Hundred and Sixty Nine Naira, Eighty-one Kobo only (N906,469.81) has been established against eleven (11) officers.
