Unknown gunmen suspected to be kidnappers, on Friday kidnapped the President and sole financier of Nigeria National League (NNL) side, Dynamite Force Football Club, Bernard Jomah, along the Okene-Lokoja road in Kogi State.
Head Coach of the club based in Iyamho, Etsako West Local Government Area of Edo State, Samson Unuanel disclosed, shortly after the incident, that the club president has been abducted by the unidentified bandits.
Unuanel said that Jomah was returning to Iyahmo/Benin from Abuja when he was kidnapped on a spot at Irepeni village, along Okene – Lokoja road in Kogi State.
According to him, the matter has been promptly reported at the Irepeni Police State.
He added that the army and the Directorate of the State Security were also aware of the development.
Jomah was said to have travelled to Abuja for the NNL Club Owners meeting and was returning to his base in Edo State when the suspected gunmen stopped his car along Lokoja-Okene road.
A close relative of the abducted club owner who pleaded anonymity, said the abductors had contacted the family and demanded for N20m.
“They have contacted us and demanded a sum of N20m as ransom. We are worried because we don’t know his situation.
“The family is working hard to secure his release and we have contacted all the relevant agencies, including the Police, to come to our aid,” he said.
