Ganduje Declares Free Education for Almajiris

Ted Odogwu

Kano State Governor, Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, on Saturday, declared free and compulsory education for almajiris and vowed that his administration would ensure that every child in Kano had unhindered access to qualitative education.

Ganduje also reiterated his commitment to ensuring that almajiris in the state benefited from his free and compulsory basic and secondary education policy, despite the reality that most of them were children from neighbouring states.

He described the status of Kano being the state with the highest number of out-of-school children in the country, as a challenge that must be faced and defeated.

According to him, with the free school feeding programme and free education policy in place, all children in Kano are now currently privileged to be educated, just as he charged parents to take advantage of the ample opportunity to send their wards to school for a better future.
