Kogi SDP Holds SEC, Stakeholders' Meeting, Vows to Produce Next Governor
The Kogi State chapter of Social Democratic Party (SDP), on Monday, held State Executives Council, and stakeholders' meeting, promising to produce the next Kogi State Governor.
Speaking at the meeting held at the party's secretariat, Lokoja, the Kogi SDP chairman, Alhaji Muktar Atimah said Kogi SDP is fully prepared to produce the next Governor of Kogi State and reposition the state amongst the committee of states in Nigeria.
Advising the party members to have faith in the party, he said the time table for the governorship primary election is out, assuring all the governorship aspirants of a level play ground during the primary election.
Speaking on the recent restructuring of the party in the state, he said there was a need to rejig the party structure and reposition it for the November governorship election in the state.
Atimah pointed out that the restructuring is not illegal as the National Secretariat of the party was actively involved, adding that all the executives of the party down to the grassroots are fully active.
Speaking on the threats by Kogi State government and its agents, Atimah called on the Inspector General of Police and DG DSS and other security agents to call the Kogi State Governor and his agents to order, adding that no matter the level of threats Kogi SDP is poised to produce the next Kogi State governor.
In his words, "It is not possible for all of us to be in one political party, we must accept this differences and respect it.
"I want to state categorically that SDP is fully prepared for the forth coming governorship election in Kogi State, I also want to put it on record that what happened in Kogi Central in the general election will not repeat itself, Governor Yahaya Bello should leave SDP members alone, it is our rights to join any political party we want", he said.

Akpoti said Ajaokuat Irone Ore is just one out of the many natural resources in the state, explaining that God blessed Kogi State and there's no local government without mineral resources, adding that a visionary leader will harness the natural endowment to develop the state.
She said because the government is not taking action to develop the state through the natural resources, illegal miners are taken over the advantage.
According to her, it wouldn't have been possible for Dubai to develop so rapidly if the people were not connected with the same purpose and vision, explaining that the secret behind it was the fact that they worked for the future and they were able to bring government closer to the people.
On his on contribution, the Kogi West SDP zonal chairman, Chief Ben Ayo-Abereoran pointed out that the party leadership structure gave him the zeal and the hope that it's possible for SDP to reposition Kogi State.
