Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, has invited a 13-year-old Almajiri boy simply named Usman to his office.
The governor requested for the presence of the boy on Saturday after a Twitter user brought his attention to the boy.
According to the Twitter user, Usman, who hails from Maiduguri, Borno State, learnt the art of shoe repair from his brother where he earns an average of N500 a day.
The teenager was reported to have said that even if he wanted to attend school, no one would sponsor him.
El-Rufai ordered that the boy be brought to him in Kaduna, saying he was willing to fund his education.
“Where is this industrious boy? How old is he? Kindly bring him to me in Kaduna. I will sponsor him to attend a boarding primary school and upon completion until he graduates from university by the Grace of God,” he said.
