The Justice O.A. Chijioke-led Kogi State Election Petition Tribunal on Thursday concluded the defence of the consolidated petition by Natasha Akpoti of SDP and Ahmed Ogembe of PDP against Yakubu Oseni of APC and fixed August 19 for adoption of final address.
The three-man bench fixed the date for the pre-judgment proceeding after Yakubu Oseni of APC presented his remaining witnesses in defence of the petition EPT/KG/SEN/08/2019
by Ahmed Ogembe of PDP.
Oseni had earlier presented his witnesses in defence of the petition EPT/KG/SEN/02/2019
by Natasha Akpoti of SDP where his principal Witness, Salisu Aliyu, an ICT expert working for the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), admitted that the card reader reports he presented does not tally with the figures of the accredited voters in the voters register upon cross examination by the Counsel to Natasha Akpoti of SDP.
Akpoti, who was the runner up of the 2019 Kogi Central senatorial election is challenging Yakubu Oseni of APC for wrongly returned by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) as the winner of the senatorial election.
