Again OKehi Administrator Sends Thugs After Natasha's Campaign Materials, Destroy Banners, Posters, Arrest Supporters
In what could be termed as total crackdown, the Administrator of Okehi local government, Hon. Abdulraheem Ohiare, on Monday sent his thugs after the campaign materials of senatorial candiatae of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), Barrister Natasha Hadiza, destroying banners and posters in the council barely 24hrs after his Adavi counterpart, Hon. Joseph Omuya Salami ordered his thugs to destroy the ones mounted at the popular Inorere junction in Adavi LGA.
As if that were not enough, the supporters of the SDP candidate, Abdulazeez Abdulkareem, Abubakar Salami and Adamu Yusuf who mounted the banners have since been arrested by Police on the order of the Administrator of the council, Hon. Abdulraheem Ohiare for the simple crime of mounting Natasha's banner and they are currently in detention police at Obangede at the time of the press.
In a desperate bid to force Alhaji Yakubu Oseni, the anointed candidate of the state governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello on the people, the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), is currently using every available means including the use of thuggery and violence to silence the first ever female senatorial candidate from Kogi Central, Barrister Natasha Hadiza Akpoti who has become a household name in the senatorial district.
Although, the ruling party has reiterated in different fora that Natasha is not a threat to the victory of the anointed candidate, Alhaji Yakubu Oseni.
However, the body language and the actions of the appointed local government Administrators in the senatorial district conspicuously contradict what the ruling party said in the public.
To sustain the relative peace currently enjoy in Ebiraland, Natasha's team called on traditional rulers and political leaders in Ebiraland to rise up against this undemocratic moves by the Administrators in the senatorial district who have jettisoned their administrative duties and occupy themselves with how to silence Natasha's campaign in a move to force the anointed candidate on the good people of Kogi Central senatorial district.
"Just yesterday, our banners and posters were destroyed by the thugs sponsored by the CTC of Adavi LGA.
"Our supporters went back there to hang more banners and poster in place of the ones they destroyed, the hoodlums invaded the place again and removed it all, saying they were ordered to burn down any campaign materials from the oppositions.
"This is a threat to democracy and this is a call for uprising of political thuggery in Ebiraland if drastic measure is not taking.
Barr. Natasha Akpoti cannot stood so low to reduce herself to their level but that cannot be said of her supporters because Natasha can't be everywhere", the team said.
The team further stressed that politics ought to be played with civility, explaining that it is not possible for all the people of Kogi Central to be on the same political party.
"Two brothers, Kabir Babba Kaita of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and his younger brother, Ahmad Babba Kaita of the All Progressives Congress (APC) recently contested against each other in a bye election in Katsina North senatorial zone at the National Assembly.
"Being on different political party does not make us an enemy, there would be winner at the end of the day and what we want is to come together after the election and work towards the progress of Ebiraland.
"Since the ruling party claimed their candidate has the popularity and credibility to win the election, they should allow the court of public opinion and the good people of Kogi Central to decide", the team said.
