Heroes Or Murderers? Meet Parents Who Killed Their Daughters' Rapists

 As the cases of rape continued to rise across the world, there are parents who had protected their daughters to the point of fighting for them when they were raped and ended up killing their daughters' rapists as a form of revenge.



These parents who comprise of both genders were called heroes by section of the society for putting their lives on the line to fight for their daughters while some people have dirvergent view about them after they were arrested and charged for murder.

Let's take a look at these parents who killed their daughters' rapists to revenge the inhuman act melted at their daughters.

South African Mother Killed Daughter's Rapist

In 2019, a South African mother, Nokubonga Qampi, gained prominent and was nicknamed "Lion Mama" after she killed one of the three men raping her daughter, and wounded the two others.

Sadly, the "Lion Mama" was arrested and charged for murder which led to public outcry. The government bowed to pressure and her prosecution was then halted and she focused on her daughter's recovery after she was released on bail.

The South African mother had rose to action at the middle of the night when she was informed that her daughter simply identified as Siphokazi was being raped by three men.

Nokubonga who lived with her daughter in Eastern Cape province narrated that when she called the police and there was no response, she knew she was the only one that could help her daughter because the rapists were familiar faces in the village and they could kill her for her not to report the case.

She explained that she took a kitchen knife, and went to the place where the incident was happening to save her daughter.

She said she saw one of the rapists raping her daughter and the other two stood nearby with their trousers round their ankles, waiting to takeover from their friend.

"I was scared and was thinking of my child at the same time. I just stood by the door and asked what they were doing. When they saw it was me, they came charging towards me, that's when I thought that I needed to defend myself, it was an automatic reaction", she explained.

The victim, Siphokazi while narrating her ordeal said, she didn't get any counselling but her mother has been able to assist her.

Indian Father killed His Daughter's Rapist-murderer

In 2002, an Indian man simply identified as Sankaranarayanan became enraged after his 13-year-old daughter was raped and murdered. He went after the man who raped and murdered his duaghter to serve justice.

The father of the victim, Sankaranarayan had shot the perpetrator, Ahammed Koya, who allegedly raped the 13-year old girl and murdered her in the process.

Sankaranarayan was a neighbor to 24-year-old Ahammed Koya who both lived in Malappuram district in Kerala, India and wouldn't have thought he could raped and murdered his own daughter.

Ahammed Koya was arrested and convicted but that doesn't serve the desired justice for Sankaranarayan whose daughter was raped and murdered.

 Sankaranarayan patiently waited for an opportunity to avenge his daughter's death and when Ahammed Koya was released in July 2002, he decided to serve justice on his own terms, he eventually shot him dead.

"My daughter's soul must be at peace now,” Sankaranarayanan told newsmen after killing his daughter's rapist-murderer.

Sankaranarayanan later surrendered himself to the police and confessed his crime. He was charged and sentenced to rigorous life imprisonment by a Sessions Court.

After he appealled the judgment, his sentence was set aside by the Kerala High Court who ruled on the case in 2006.
The Kerala High discharged him on the ground that Sankaranarayanan did the act to avenge his daughter's rape and murder.

Alabama Man Killed Daughter's Rapist

In 2016 an Alabama man gunned down the rapist of his daughter identified as Raymond Earl Brooks.

Brook had pleaded guilty to sexually abusing the lady in 2002 and was sentenced to five years imprisonment. However, Alabama Department of Corrections had told press that Brooks only spent 27 months of the sentence and was granted an early release in February 2005.

The enraged father felt justice has not been served to Brook, he carried the rage for years and decided to seek for justice for his own daughter and eventually gunned down Brooks in 2016. In 2016, the father pleaded guilty to the murder of Brooks and was sentenced to 40 years in prison.

For legal reason, the Washington Post who reported the case does not name sexual assault victims and did not mention the father's name because he shares the last name of the sexual abuse victim.
