Sowore: Presidency Refuses to Wade Into Continued Detention of Activist

The Nigerian presidency has refused to do anything about the continued detention of an activist and journalist, Omoyele Sowore.
The presidency said it was not yet time for it to step into the case of Sowore's continued detention by the Department of State Services (DSS) despite a court ruling ordering his release on bail.
Conveying the federal government's position on Sunday, September 29, Femi Adesina, told a Channels TV live programme that the presidency could not do anything on the matter yet.
Adesina's words came just hours after it emerged on Sunday that the DSS was set to re-arraign the convener of the #RevolutionNow protest before a new judge of the federal high court sitting in Abuja on Monday, September 30.
Sowore's lawyers stopped from presenting documents showing he met bail conditions.
The controversial case which has been presided over by Justice Taiwo Taiwo will now be handled by Justice Ijeoma Ojukwu who fixed the date for the hearing.
Legit.ng reported that the director general of the DSS, Yusuf Bichi, was warned by the federal high court sitting in Abuja to release the publisher of Sahara Reporters, Sowore, or be ready for imprisonment.
The court gave the warning on Thursday, September 26, in response to the failure of the DSS to release Sowore after he was granted bail and he had met his bail conditions.
