Shefiat sets record, emerges first female champion of ISU weekly quiz in 2018
History was made yesterday as Comrade Sanni Sofiyat emerged first female champion of 2018 of the keenly contested competition of weekly quiz of Ihima Students' Union (ISU).
Shefiat, a Mass Communication ND holder from the prestigious Sokoto State Polytechnic defeated her closest rival Comrade Abdulhamid Abdulrashed with five points, becoming the first female in 2018 to clinch such remarkable height.
Expressing her joy as the first female champion of the year, she gave all the praises to Almighty God who made her to attain such height.
In her words, "I feel so great as the first female champion of the year though I never knew no female has won this year but Alhamdulilah it was God doing not me."
Emphasising on the need to promote Ebira history, the General Secretary of the union who anchor the programme, Comrade Yusuf Muyiba noted that "ISU weekly quiz is centered on historical background of Ebira nation, the programme is an avenue to promote it and motivate the students of Ihima origin to read about the rich history of Ebira as we motivate the winner with airtime sufficient for weekly routine.
"we are still looking for sponsorship and subsequently increase the amount we give out and motivate our students to learn about their background," she explained.
She added that the programme is held every Friday evening at the whatsapp group of the union where students of Ihima origin from different higher institutions of learning are able to participate.
