Kogi lawmaker appeals to FG to intensify security over herdsmen attack Kogi in community
A member of House of Representatives representing Ankpa/Olamaboro/Omala federal constituency of Kogi State has appealed to federal government to intensify security in Kogi state over the recent attack by suspected herdsmen in Oganenigu of Bassa Local Government Area.
According to the lawmaker such killings could lead to reprisal attacks if urgent steps were not taken to stop reprisal attacks.
Speaking to journalists in Abuja on Sunday, Omale said the killings of farmers and locals were becoming very alarming.
The lawmaker appealed to residents of the affected communities to remain calm and law abiding while vowing to explore available legislative process at the National Assembly to ensure lasting peace, security and tranquility return to the areas.
He further called on his colleagues in the lower chamber to give him the necessary support as he undertakes some legislative framework in the coming days as way of urgent intervention in the crisis ridden communities.
On the same vein, governor Bello has assured the people of Kogi state that a judicial panel will be instituted to unravel what took place during a spot visit to Oganeinigu.
He also commended the Nigerian Army and other security agencies whose efforts he said brought normalcy to the area.
